It was six o’clock in the evening and the roads were very congested with cars. Ben wanted to cross the road but he was too lazy to use the overhead bridge. So, he climbed over the road barrier and dashed across the road without paying any heed to the oncoming cars.
It was of no great surprise that he was knocked down by an oncoming van. Luckily, the driver was not driving very fast but still, he could not stop his vehicle in time. Ben lay on the road helplessly. He was in great pain and bleeding profusely. The van driver quickly called for an ambulance on his mobile phone.
The ambulance soon arrived with its siren wailing loudly. Ben was placed in it and sent to the hospital. He had to stay in the hospital for a fortnight before he was discharged. From that day onwards, Ben always used the overhead bridge to cross the road. He no longer jaywalked.
