A Break-in

By Jessica L. (9 years old)

Last Friday, Henry came home from school feeling excited because his friends had invited him for a swim in the swimming pool nearby his house.  He ran into his room to put on his swimming trunks.  He grabbed his goggles and was out of the door before you could count to three!

After locking the door carefully, he went to join his friends at the pool.  The boys had a great time frolicking in the water.  They spent two hours at the pool before they headed home.

Henry was dumbfounded when he reached home.  The door was ajar.  He was very sure that he locked it before he left.  He pushed the door wide open and rushed into the living room.  It was in a terrible mess.  Pieces of furniture were turned upside down and the drawers hung out from the cabinets.  His house had been robbed in bright daylight!

He quickly picked up the telephone and made a police report.  The police soon arrived to investigate the break-in.  The burglar was caught after a month.  Henry and his family were glad to recover their valuables.

About Katherine

Just a female who has time to do a bit of pondering and musing. Otherwise, I am on an interesting journey down the path to being a senior citizen.
